The patch of sky a tiny grain of sand covers when you hold it up at arm’s length could be many light years in diameter, and contain up to 10,000 galaxies. Even more mind-blowing is the fact that because each galaxy contains 10 million to a thousand billion stars, your grain of sand could cover at least a hundred billion stars.
