I’m all for allowing oil companies to charge $10 a gallon, just as long as the government gets to tax at least 50% of it, and let that revenue go towards building alternative energy projects. Let that tax revenue go towards building new infrastructures that make fossil fuels obsolete. Let high gasoline prices make people want to cut back on their gas consumption.

Chemical exposure linked to rising diabetes, obesity risk
Chemical exposure linked to rising diabetes, obesity risk
Emerging evidence ties endocrine-disrupting chemical exposure to two of the biggest public health threats facing society — diabetes and obesity. EDCs contribute to health problems by mimicking, blocking or otherwise interfering with the body’s natural hormones. By hijacking the body’s chemical messengers, EDCs can alter the way cells develop and grow. Known EDCs include bisphenol A (BPA) found in food can linings and cash register receipts, phthalates found in plastics and cosmetics, flame retardants and pesticides. The chemicals are so common that nearly every person on Earth has been exposed to one or more.

Remember when Carli Fiorina flat out lied on stage to America about watching a video of a fetus alive and kicking at Planned Parenthood? What was deceptively used in the video was a photo of a stillborn baby (not at Planned Parenthood). The mother doesn’t mind that a lie is being perpetuated about her dead baby by Republicans because she is pro-life herself, not pro-truth.

It sounds like a headline from The Onion. Sadly, it’s not.

“‘Every single county in which blacks make up more than 75 percent of registered voters will see their driver license office closed. Every one,’ Archibald wrote.”

I was looking through some old notes about ideas I’ve had. Some were crack-pot ideas, and some were right wing crazy (I came from a conservative background in the South.)

Other ideas were really good and still are. I didn’t know that other people thought of it first, but back in the ’90s, I thought I was the first to think about such things as a vacuumed maglev transport that would be faster than the bullet train since it wouldn’t have to push against air resistance. I also thought I was the first to invent chilly cheese dogs and fruit flavored tea. #TBT #hyperloop

I was listening to Hard Knock Radio and Kimberly Papillon mentioned something interesting about what happens after police shootings. Some ignorant people always bring up, “why don’t you do something about black on black crime before criticizing police?” She said, “when talking about domestic violence, no one ever brings up ‘why don’t you do something about woman on woman violence before criticizing men?'”

In anticipation of viewing what few autumn colors there are here in the NW, I’m worried that I’m unable to appreciate the beauty of nature like I used to. Maybe my brain has been rewired to be more analytical since I’ve been a programmer for so long. It’s become much more difficult for me to feel moved by nature. It feels like expecting a big birthday present and getting a pair of socks. Therein may lie the problem. How can I go to a park to see beauty without anticipating? Sometimes having a purpose doesn’t work in my favor.

Maybe I should take up a creative hobby or game to counter all the analytical work I do.
