There should be transit buses specifically for commuting these kinds of bikes/vehicles to places over 5 miles. If there were, automobiles would become mostly obsolete. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/podride-a-practical-and-fun-bicycle-car

If you like reading science news like I do, then you may have read articles about research into life extension and growing younger. Within 5 to 10 years, it’s going to happen. Of course, it will be expensive to begin with so wealthier people will get it first. Then the patents will run out in 14 years.

What I want to know from you is, would you take those pills, or would want to grow old gracefully? If you take them, how do you think your life will change? Or, how do you think society will change?

I think it’s going to be a major social disruptor. Wealthy older people will be able to keep their hoarded wealth, and they’ll be younger – making the rest of us jealous while they flaunt their lifestyles. Couples that have been comfortably together for decades could face those same problems that younger couples face, again.

Some people might not like what I’m about to write.

In the Democratic Party, I guess I’m an average supporter. I’m not an insider, nor outsider. I give donations when I can, and write letters to elected officials about things I feel strongly about. I went to the caucuses and watched agitated outsiders mutter about how the system is rigged. I don’t get into conspiracy theories, because mostly everything has a rational explanation. To see that, you just need a mind that’s willing to see others’ points of view and understand Occam’s Razor.

Many people who are jaded about the political processes don’t realize what it takes to be a part of a political organization and make it run effectively. Almost everything that an organization does requires money or volunteer effort. Even the use of the school gymnasium for caucuses costs money too. The people that dedicate their time and money to an organization are going to be trusted more within that organization and will justly deserve more influence.

If you are an outsider, not donating any money and not volunteering, how much influence do you have and deserve? Some test the waters after joining a party and realize that they have to start at the bottom. Only after you’ve been with the organization for a while can you be trusted for higher positions. It would be foolish to allow new uncredited people access to the inner workings, because they could actually be working with the opposing side.

I realize that by not volunteering and trading away my time, I have lesser influence, but I’m not going to complain about it. I just accept it as a trade off. The cynical way of writing this is “you get what you pay for,” but I would rather be more positive and know that I made a choice and what I do with my time has an opportunity cost.

Here’s a real story about how your FaceBook photos may be stolen to create fake identities.

In 2011, my life changed forever. I came home from work and found a business card from the local sheriff on my door and a request for me to get in touch with them immediately. I then learned that a man named Brian Hile had traveled from Michigan to my home in California intending to murder me and my boyfriend. Brian had thought he was in an online relationship with me, but it was actually just a man who had stolen my photos and used them to create a fake profile online. When Brian found out about it, he wanted to take his rage out on me.

Although this experience was by far the most severe, it was not the first or last I have had. Nine years ago my private Photobucket account was hacked, photos of me were stolen, and ever since they have been used to create multiple fake profiles across social media. These profiles all use my pictures but have fake names and fake personalities. I have tried over and over to get these accounts taken down, especially since many of the photos of me were taken when I was a minor and are now being used for sexual purposes, but the social media platforms that host them never take any action.

The people using my photos on fake profiles are doing something known as “catfishing,” or creating fake personalities online usually to fool another person into a relationship. This isn’t a rare phenomenon, and despite the silly name it is far from a harmless practice. Facebook itself acknowledges that there are 83 million fake profiles on their site. A man tried to kill me because of one of those fake profiles, and I refuse to sit by and see that happen to anyone else.

I went to law enforcement multiple times to report the profiles using my stolen photos, but they never took me seriously and that is partly because the platforms like Facebook do not take it seriously either. If Facebook shows leadership in working to eradicate this problem, it will be a signal to other platforms and to law enforcement that they must take action as well.
