Regarding Prosperity Gospel, it seems to be another version of patriarchy, with business leaders being the patriarchs.
Kind of related, but there seems to be a blind spot amongst evangelicals. Let me qualify this first. I’m not referring to every evangelical or religious person, but you know the type that use the term “elitists.”
If they believe that good things come to very religious people, then why aren’t they being showered with riches? Why is God punishing them with tornados and economic failure? Why aren’t meteors hailing down on Seattle, New York, San Fransisco, and all those sinners? They can’t blame God, so they use scapegoats. It’s the liberals, the elitists, the Jews, the Muslims. At the same time they idolize rich people, they are filled with jealousy and disdain for white collar workers in cities who are making a decent living. For them, these faceless city folk are the elitists that should really be punished. They welcome a trade war. Even if a trade war hurts them, at least it will hurt the city folk elitists even more, they hope.
