Why don’t the police pull the liquor licenses from places like this? If a bar or club in Washington has just 2 fights and police are called, they can get their liquor license pulled. Double standard! This was an interesting story to listen to though. Real life Jerry Springer stuff in the videos. http://freakonomics.com/podcast/chuck-e-cheeses-kid-can-learn-price-theory/

“There’s this term that “there’s a war on white males these days,” white Christian men, and channeled through the headwinds/tailwinds asymmetry, you could see why that group would think that.”
“What about if I feel aggrieved, if I feel I am facing way more headwinds than the other people around me — whether it’s in the labor markets, or in academia or whatever — do you see that misperception being a significant barrier to progress for me, again individually or societally?”
“I do. Because it feeds resentment, which doesn’t make us our best selves. Prevents us from thinking most rationally and acting most productively. Each community is going to think that the other one has it easier than they do when in fact they don’t. That’s the misperception. And if they think that the other group has it easier, that’s tempting. First of all, it’s going to make them less likely to want to do good things for people in the other community and it might even encourage them to do some questionable things too in their minds even though the slate is already even. It’s that misperception that we’re particularly interested in.” http://freakonomics.com/podcast/why-is-my-life-so-hard/

There’s a lot of useless technology startups in Silicon Valley and Seattle. I don’t think they’ll survive. The major tech companies will probably layoff many employees when profits decrease. Where will those thousands of unemployed tech workers go? If they stay, they may end up homeless after not being able to afford their sky-high mortgage. If they leave, will they go back to live with mom and dad or hunker down in a remote/cheap area while living off of severance and savings?
