When I went back to Florida, I noticed a difference in what songs were played. Heathens by Twenty One Pilots and this song were played like they were still very popular, even though they both came out a year ago. Here in the Seattle metro area, neither of them got enough air time, IMO. Stating the obvious, our environment influences our tastes in music, even long after we’ve left that environment.

I wish the Seattle metro radio stations would play more music like this instead of that Chris Brown crap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kp7eSUU9oy8

I agree. Some might not like it, but it’s more practical than ideal. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/07/advice-for-the-left-on-achieving-a-more-perfect-union/531054/

Twenty years ago, Richard Rorty warned that a spectatorial, disgusted, mocking Left would give rise to a populist demagogue. Is it ready now to take his advice?

We imagine Zholeyna to grow into a girl like Mei in My Neighbor Totoro, preciously stubborn, spunky, and curious.

These moments are so beautiful. I’m not sure what it is, maybe problems from long ago, but I have a superstitious worry that beautiful things never last, so it scares me when I’m holding something so precious and beautiful and she’s resting her head on my chest. I’m reminded to cherish these moments.

Cat Jump Fail with Music: Sail by AWOLNATION
Cat Jump Fail with Music: Sail by AWOLNATION
The music makes this video a million times funnier. I’ve seen this version on tumblr (http://videohall.tumblr.com/post/22947862416/anybody-know-what-happened-to-the-cat) but not on YouTube, so I thought I’d bring it on over. EDIT: I’ve answered this in the comments, but people are still asking, so I thought I’d post it here–yes, the cat survived. It says so in the original video description. Yay! Panama City Beach!

The last time I was there I waded into the water on a moonlit night, and it was a dreamy surreal experience.

I have a half baked idea that uses a metaphor of water flow through various water reservoirs or water tanks to describe cash flow between various cities or class structures. I think it will be useful to help people grasp how national franchises and transnational corporations suck money out of small communities and move it to cities or rather offshore bank accounts.
