We had to leave our apartment in Kirkland, WA. The landlord is going to remodel and rent at much higher price. It was an older apartment and very spacious. With Kirkland becoming more popular and growing very quickly, I guess it was only a matter of time.

We moved to a different place in Kirkland, and I’m actually closer to my job. It’s newer, smaller, and more expensive, but it has much more light. Moving was expensive, time consuming, and physically demanding. Lots of soreness and body aches. I should have worn gloves to protect these hands. We got rid of so much stuff too. It’s amazing and sad how much unnecessary stuff can just accumulate in 7 1/2 years.

I know I should have bought a place a while back, but the last recession keeps me nervous about real estate busts. Plus, I think our future home is not to be in Washington. I’ve had my eye on Virginia (Richmond) to get away from all this tech boom town gentrification and skyrocketing real estate nonsense. However, today I read an article that speculates Amazon is considering northern Virginia (near Fairfax and Dulles airport). I hope Richmond is far enough away. I don’t want to be anywhere near Amazon HQ2. Amazon already ruined Seattle along with other tech giants.

This is about extending the healthy human lifespan, something I’m thinking about more as I grow older. I’m probably not the first to think of this, so help me understand where the flaw(s) is/are. Telomerase can be used to make us younger, but it could also allow cancer cells to proliferate. If (big IF) cancer cells are dependent on DNA repair being turned off, then it should be a simple logic problem.

Detect if DNA repair has been turned off / disabled / inhibited / suppressed. If it has, then turn off telomerase. If not, then turn on telomerase.

That solves two problems in one. It allows healthy cells to stay young, and it also hinders cancer cells from proliferating!
