Feax Patriotism and Group Identity. Some people who claim to be patriotic and proud are only that way because they identify a white-face with being an American. Exclusivity feeds pride in an organization (country clubs). A leader who doesn’t represent the identity of a group will be hated by the group. If the group identity changes, the people who favored the old identity will seek to secede or retake control (sectarianism).
