On July 23, Washington becomes one of the nation’s 14 “100% hands-free states.” Police officers can pull you over if you’re holding any kind of electronic device (cell phone, tablet, gaming device) when you’re behind the wheel, even if you’re stopped at a light and have committed no other traffic infraction.
The penalty for “Driving Under the Influence of Electronics” is $136 for a first offense, $235 for the second. Distracted driving incidents also will be reported to insurance companies, the same as speeding tickets, and would have the potential to impact premiums.

When my four-year-old misbehaves (and boy, does she), I have about 3.7 seconds to run through a litany of possible parental responses in my brain, and choose one.

Our socialist state government cares about families to ensure workers get paid family and medical leave. How much do red states care about families? http://kuow.org/post/washington-workers-will-get-paid-family-medical-leave-benefits-beginning-2020

I thought I “discovered” something new again, but I searched the internet and found that other people recommended the same thing.
Desitin is great for spot treating acne. That’s right, a cream for baby rashes. I don’t recommend it for wiping the cream all over the face everyday.

I have to agree. Michael Bay should not make anymore movies and destroy anything left sacred.

The verdict is in on Transformers: The Last Knight. It’s time to take drastic action to save the cinematic future of the robots in disguise.

Active listening, as the name implies requires effort. It is much more than simply “hearing” what is being said. This article will show you how to improve your listening skills to make you a better conversationalist, and a more empathetic friend, spouse, parent or partner.

Seattle and Portland too. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2017/jul/06/gentrification-america-music-cities-austin-nashville-new-orleans

Austin, Nashville and New Orleans have thrived on the success of vibrant music scenes. But as rents rise and noise complaints become more common, do they risk ruining what made them famous in the first place?

Trickle down economics, which is used to justify tax cuts for the rich, is predicated upon faulty assumptions. Here are just three of them related to tax cuts: 1) Busines owners will use the extra savings to grow their company (and add more jobs) because they want to grow. Really? If all they needed was a little more money to grow their business, they would have sold shares or borrowed a loan. 2) The market for growing their business has enough demand to meet the increased supply and has available buying power to purchase more goods. 3) Improvements in software and automation hasn’t increased productivity enough to replace staff. Most of the jobs lost in the coal industry had less to do with the declining market demand and more to do with automation.
Don’t buy into the notion that tax cuts will lead to job growth. It’s a ruse by greedy people so they don’t have to give back to society which has given so much to them.

“Instead of worrying about the mass unemployment a robot Armageddon could bring, we should instead shift our attention to making sure workers — particularly low-wage workers — have the skills they need to compete in an automated era, says James Bessen, an economist, Boston University law lecturer, and author of the book Learning by Doing: The Real Connection Between Innovation, Wages, and Wealth.”
Yeah, I just got back from a trip to my home town. I can tell you with certainty that learning these higher level skills is out of the question for many of them. Maybe this is what they mean by “elites” not caring about the common man, even if they are terribly misinformed about the political leanings of those elites.
Clarification about what I meant here: This economist and others who came from an, I guess some people would call “elite” culture, don’t understand and don’t seem to care that other parts of our society aren’t going to just enroll in a university just to compete for high tech skills – particular people who have families already and those who come from places where higher level degrees and skills is the exception, not the norm.
