I get irritated by people who attack historical greats like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. They apply current political correctness and moral standards to times and situations where those did not apply much. These people changed the course of history for the better. They made decisions based on the circumstances in which they lived and society around them lived. They would not have been in the positions to shape history if they told everyone, “stop doing this thing that we will be judged for far into the future because future society will change”. They would have been laughed at by everyone around them at the time. So stop and think about historical contexts before criticizing the great people in history.
