Moved to WordsFromRob blog.  http://wordsfromrob.us/2015/08/08/more-wind-to-move-more-moisture-over-mountains/

I wrote a few times about geo-engineering mountain ranges to allow more rain clouds to move through to get around the rain shadow, and how that would become an epic catastrophe. https://www.facebook.com/robert.s.944/posts/10153085811403590

I have another idea to get rain clouds to parched areas to water farms and prevent forest fires. Instead of wind farms to collect energy from the wind, it will use giant propellers to create wind in order to suck moisture over mountain ranges to the other side. It will be powered by solar energy, of course.

There may be a few problems with this idea too. If it works, clouds could roll over the solar cells and reduce the energy needed to power the propellers and its effectiveness. The propellers could kill soaring birds that get too close. Which birds will fly that high? Vacuuming moisture from one area to another means that the previous area where rain collected will get less rain. That means the Puget Sound will get drier as the area east of the Cascades will get wetter.
