This goes along with what I’ve been saying. Trump voters are desperate and want to see others suffer, even though it will cost them more. They despise it when different/other people do better than them. Poor people in my hometown (who voted overwhelmingly for Trump) seethe if they see a black man in nice clothes and a nice car, and then murmur “he must be a drug dealer.” https://qz.com/916680/the-psychology-of-punishment-is-key-to-why-people-vote-against-their-own-interests-says-an-oxford-neuroscientist/
People who feel they’ve been wronged will vote against the political establishmenteven at a personal cost to themselves.
